How do I set up a replacement Hero?

Updated today

The Hero app simplifies the transition by automatically transferring schedules and settings. However, you will need to manually move any medications between the dispensers.

Pre-Requisites

Before you begin, make sure to complete the following:

  • Ensure both the current and replacement Hero dispensers are online and powered on.

  • Log into your Hero mobile app.

  • Remove the travel bar from the replacement dispenser.

  • Make sure you are logged into the Hero mobile app using your admin account.

  • Confirm that the latest Hero health app is installed on your device from the app store before proceeding.

1. Set Up Your New Hero

  1. Complete the setup tutorial, ensuring it connects to your local Wi-Fi network.

  2. When the new dispenser displays the connection code screen, open your Hero app.

  3. Note that the connection code is also referred to as the "pairing code," which will be required during the transfer.

  4. If any difficulties occur during pairing, restart the app and retry with the provided connection code.

2. Begin the Transfer Process

  1. In the Hero app, navigate to the “More” tab and select “Set up another Hero pill dispenser.”

  2. Choose “Existing user – Replacement unit.”

  3. Tap “Begin Transfer” and input the pairing code displayed on your new Hero dispenser.

3. Transfer Medications

  • Follow the on-screen prompts on your new Hero dispenser to load your medications into it.

4. Finalize transfer

  1. Once the transfer is complete, insert the travel bar into the back of your original Hero to secure the internal components.

  2. Unplug the original dispenser once the travel bar is in place.

  3. Use the original packaging to return your old Hero. The travel bar must remain inserted during shipment to prevent damage.

  4. If you no longer have the original packaging or travel bar, use the new dispenser's packaging materials.

Tips

  • Both dispensers must stay connected to Wi-Fi during the transfer process to ensure seamless operation.

  • Adjust medications as necessary post-transfer, removing or adding items based on current needs.

  • Remember that medication schedules and settings are automatically transferred via the Hero app, so manual re-entry is unnecessary.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

What if the Dispensers Fail to Pair?

  • Verify that both your dispensers are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Restart both units and try pairing again.

  • Ensure the app on your mobile device is up-to-date and reinstall if necessary.

The Replacement Unit is Not Recognized in the App.

  • Check that the replacement dispenser is powered on and has a stable connection.

  • Verify that the replacement dispenser is not in sleep mode and ensure it is operating correctly.

  • Confirm that both your dispensers are on the same 2.4GhZ Wi-Fi network.
