Can Hero dispense any type of pill?
Updated over 3 weeks ago

Hero supports most pill sizes and shapes, as long as the second smallest dimension (length, width, or thickness) is at least 3.7 mm, and the largest dimension does not exceed 27 mm.

However, some medications are not suitable for the dispenser, such as liquids and certain pill types and those should be stored outside of Hero Smart Dispenser. Hero can still remind you to take and track medications stored both inside and outside the dispenser, so we encourage you to add all your medications in the phone app, even those stored separately.

Meds that should be stored outside the dispenser:

  • Liquids, gel-caps, dissolving pills, or gummies that may stick together (e.g., Fish oil, Vitamin D).

  • Medications with a narrow therapeutic window, where even slight dosing errors can cause severe side effects (e.g., Digoxin, Warfarin, Lithium).

  • Medications for acute or life-threatening conditions, such as allergic reactions, asthma, or heart attacks (e.g., Epinephrine, Nitroglycerin).

Always follow your physician’s prescribed dosing instructions and the label's specifications.
