At Hero, we understand the importance of staying on top of your medication schedule. That's why we've designed our device to provide you with multiple reminders to ensure your medication adherence.
Hero is capable of storing up to 10 different medications, each for as long as a 90-day supply, providing flexibility and efficiency for your medication management needs. Each cartridge corresponds to a specific medication, allowing accurate dispensing such that mixing or inaccurate quantities are avoided. The pills must also meet the specified size criteria of 3.7mm or above for compatibility.
Hero also simplifies the process of managing medications that are not stored in the dispenser. Using the Hero app, you can track an additional 10 medications, ensuring comprehensive management of your entire medication routine. These external medications can include liquids, gummies, half-pills, or injectables, expanding the breadth of medication management for users.
How will I know it’s time for my meds?
Dispenser Alerts: When it's time for your meds, the Hero smart dispenser will alert you with a message on the screen, an audible tone, and flashing light.
Mobile Notifications: Depending on your notification preferences, you may also receive a push notification from the Hero app on your mobile phone.
Caregiver Notifications: Our device can notify caregivers if you're late, miss a dose, or if your medication supply is running low, giving you and your loved ones peace of mind.
30-Minute Early Dispensing Alerts: Roughly 30 minutes before a scheduled dose, the Hero device screen displays an alert allowing early dispensing. At the scheduled time, the device emits beeping sounds and activates its ring light, signaling that dispensing is ready. Instructions are displayed on-screen to guide the user through the process.
The Hero app is an integral part of managing medications, enabling users to set schedules, monitor intake, and track external medications seamlessly. Notifications ensure you don't miss doses of tracked medications such as those not compatible with the dispenser.
Customizing Notification Preferences
Users have various options for receiving notifications and can tailor their preferences directly in the app. This includes choosing their preferred notification method (push notifications, text messages, or calls) and verifying phone numbers for SMS alerts.
Troubleshooting Notification Issues
If you’re not receiving notifications as expected, follow these steps:
Open the Hero app and check notification settings at
More > Settings > Notificationsto ensure notifications are enabled.Verify your phone number for SMS alerts and complete the verification process.
Test your notification system to confirm reminders are displayed and doses are recorded accurately.
Start Dispensing
Press the center button on the Hero smart dispenser to start dispensing your dose. If a dispense passcode has been set for any medications in that dose, you’ll be asked to enter it first.
Alternatively, slide right in the Hero app to dispense (available to admins only).
2. Dispense Process
Hero will pick up each pill and drop it into the cup. The device screen will indicate which medication is being dispensed.
3. Verify and Take Your Meds
Once all pills for that dose have been dispensed, Hero will instruct you to remove the cup. Verify the dose and take the pills.
4. Return the Cup
After taking your medication, return the cup to Hero so it’s ready for the next dose.
5. Troubleshooting Tips
If cartridges are misaligned or medications dispensed incorrectly, verify cartridge positions inside the Hero app and adjust them accordingly using the Pill Access Key. Additionally, perform a test dispense to confirm accuracy.
Hero employs a vacuum tube dispensing mechanism. When prompted by pressing the center button, the vacuum tube collects the medication from the assigned cartridge and releases it into the dispensing cup. For users with multiple medications, the turntable mechanism rotates to each cartridge as per the schedule to enable dispensing of full dose. Each cartridge is numbered, matching corresponding cartridge and medication entries in the app. The turntable design ensures precise alignment for multi-medication dispensing.
