Can I prevent my loved ones from accessing the Hero dispenser menu?

Updated yesterday

Menu access passcode blocks access to entire dispenser menu. It is commonly used to prevent others from accessing menu settings or dispensing unscheduled meds (as-needed or future dose) - like a “digital lock” to the device. Only scheduled dose dispense will be available on the dispenser without any passcode entry.

The passcode does not prevent physical access to the medications stored in the dispenser. For example, the physical pill access key provides an emergency option to manually retrieve medications if needed.

Important Note: The Hero Smart Dispenser is not intended to be a pill lockbox and does not prevent users from physically accessing medications stored in the device by design.

This includes access during emergency scenarios using the pill access key, which allows manual retrieval of medications but is not tamper-proof or designed as a secure barrier.

Physical Key and Emergency Access The Hero dispenser includes a physical key for scenarios such as power outages or when a dose fails to dispense. This white plastic key allows manual access to the medication compartment.

Digital Security and Setting Up a Digital Lock

  1. Open the Hero App

  • Navigate to the "More" tab.

  • Select "Settings & Notifications."

  • Tap "Enable Passcodes."

  • Choose "Create menu access passcode."

  1. Set Your Passcode

  • Enter a 4-digit passcode to enable the feature.

  • The app will confirm the new setting, and the Hero dispenser will update automatically. It is essential to understand that unauthorized physical access to the device may still be possible, so it should be placed in a safe, supervised location.
